Prominent (protruding) ears correctionProtruding ears are a relatively common disfigurement; they may cause great concern both among children and in time of adolescence. The disfigurement may affect the whole ear or only the upper or lower part, it may be symmetrical or different on each side. Prominent ears correction (or ear pinning) is performed through the incisions made on the back surface of the ear. Local anaesthesia is sufficient, so overnight stay in the Clinic is not necessary, but general anaesthesia may also be offered, if preferred by the patient. The adjustments are made to the cartilage, and the excess skin is removed. As a result - the ears lie close to the head. A dressing over the ears is applied for 7-10 days, and a protective headgear is required for some time afterwards, especially at night. The scars are well hidden, as they lay in the groove between the ears and head.
